What is quality?

Quality can be defined in several ways; we like to think of it as assurance and control. To us, you cannot have one without the other. Quality Assurance is the management activities that determine quality policy, objectives, responsibilities, and the research and development of quality control. Quality Control is the operational techniques and activities that are used to fulfill and verify requirements of quality assurance.

Quality control programs, certifications and codes

PMI is a member of the American Welding Society (Certification Committee), the Pipe Fabrication Institute, and holds the following certifications and codes.

Pressure Vessel Repair Program: ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) S - Power Boiler U - Unfired Pressure Vessels PP - Pressure Piping NBIC (National Board Inspections Code) R - Boiler Repair

Structural Steel Program: AWS (American Welding Society) ASTM (American Society for Testing Metals) AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction)

Quality Training

Inspectors
PMI has full-time in-house American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspectors (AWS/CWI), and American Petroleum Institute Inspectors (API 653 and API 570).

Welders
All of our Union welders are certified to ASME, AWS, or A.P.I.
